Losing Weight - The inner battle

It's tough to be over weight. Or fat or obese or "big", whatever you call it, it ain't fun.

So why are we over weight if it isn't fun? Well there are lots of possible reasons and whether you've admitted it to yourself or not, deep down you probably know what your reason is, but guess what?

It doesn't matter why you are over weight, what matters is how committed you are to losing weight and becoming more healthy.

So let's wipe away all the feelings of frustration and helplessness, let's put aside any feelings of failure or memories of past diet defeats. It's time to ask some questions.

Are you fully committed to losing weight and becoming more healthy? Yes or no.
Are you confident that getting rid of your excess fat would make you feel better about yourself? Yes or no.
Do you believe that with determination, hard work, and getting back up and trying again after slip ups you can bring what it takes to lose the weight and take control of your life?

If you're not sure just take a moment to reread the questions above and consider your answers.
If part of you believes but part of you has doubt, make a decision, enable your confidence and self belief.

The weapons of war

Losing weight means consistently using more energy than you take in from food. If you use more energy than you take in from food over time you will lose weight.

So we have two questions.
How can we take in less energy from food?

How can we use more energy in our daily lives?

Maybe you've been reading books, asking for advice and talking to people about how to diet, well that's great but don't be afraid to be creative and come up with your own solutions. See how many ideas you can come up with that help you either reduce your energy intake or increase your energy usage.

Pick a single food item you like and replace it with a healthier alternative.
Imagine yourself as a healthier person, enjoying exercise and healthy foods, make it seem real.
Drink an extra glass of water every morning and at lunchtime.
Try not eating after 6:30pm for a week and see if it suits your routine.
Fix four times during the day when you are allowed to eat. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner, and try and eat only during those times.

I am sure you can think of thousands of other possibilities for eating better and getting more exercise. So get started!

If thinking about dieting and losing weight makes you feel bad, like a failure, that is the number one thing you must change, and change it you can.

Keep in mind that the bigger the challenge the bigger the glory in overcoming it, the better you will feel when you achieve success.

Dieting doesn't have to be serious. If you can get yourself into a state where talk of diets and healthy eating bring a smile to your face you are on the right track.
