How will HabitMix benefit me?

You will achieve your goals.

Negative Nancy says: "Is this where I call some hotline to have a psychic hypnotize me?"

No, unless that works for you, this is where you realize that any goal worth achieving is going to require modification of habits (developing, quitting, improving, etc). So if you use HabitMix consistently (ie: daily), your habits will become a part of your life, and you will make tremendous improvements toward achieving your goals.

Example - you might have a goal to "lose 20 pounds". Tasks such as buying gym membership, reading a new weight loss book, and getting the treadmill out of the storage room, are not going to cut it. They might be a good start, but it is your Habits that will help you to actually achieve your goal.

You will have more time available.

Negative Nancy says: "Yea right, so you built some kind of time machine to help me have more time in my life?"

No, that's coming in the next version (ok maybe not), but HabitMix will help you identify areas in your life that you are spending time in that don't necessarily fit into one of your Core Values. And by helping you develop habits to reduce time in those areas, you will have more time available.

Example Habit - "Limit TV to 1 hour per day"

You will save more of your hard earned money

Negative Nancy says: "What is this opposite day? You want to charge me money for this service and then at the same time tell me your going to save me money!"

No it's not opposite day, that was yesterday (unless your reading this tomorrow). Actually many people spend money on little things that they don't really need or want, and they do this over and over which can really add up. How do they do this without even realizing it? I'll give you a hint - habits. HabitMix can help you break these bad spending habits and develop new spending habits that are better.

Example Habit - "Bring lunch from home to work 3 days a week."
Money saved: around $24, value of developing good spending habits: priceless.

You will be able to earn more money

Negative Nancy says: "So now you are going to talk with my boss to get me a raise? Good luck!"

Nope, I won't need to once you start developing habits that will help you in your career. Or maybe you need help in stopping some habits at work that are prohibiting you from climbing up the ladder. On the other hand, maybe you are climbing the WRONG ladder? You might need help with your habits outside of work to help you switch careers, start your own business, or finish a degree. Whatever the case may be HabitMix can help you to develop habits that will increase your earning potential.

Example Habit - "Limit time on Facebook and MySpace to only during lunch"

You will spend more quality time with loved ones

Negative Nancy says: "How can you possibly know what I consider quality time?"

I've been watching you. Actually, it doesn't matter, what does matter is that you get in the habit of spending more of this time with loved ones. And a great way to do this is by setting aside the time and tracking it.

Example Habit - "Date night with spouse twice a month"

You will be healthier

Negative Nancy says: "Unbelievable, now you’re a doctor too?"

No, and I don't play one on TV either. But improving your health is all about habits and consistency - two things that HabitMix excels at. Over time, tracking habits that are related to your health, will reveal the areas you need to work on, and if you use the daily notes, it can also help you find "triggers" that might lead to certian positive or negative behaviors related to your health.

Example Habit - "Drink 8 glasses of water a day"

You will be happier

Negative Nancy says: "Ok, now the habit Nazi thinks that tracking all this crap will be fun."

The actual tracking of your habits may not be the most exciting thing, but luckily this shouldn't take longer than 30-60 seconds a day. No really, it should be that quick! The fun part is when you take a look at your habits and you realize there are some changes you need to make, you implement those changes, track them, and notice that you are now spending more time doing activities that actually make you happier.

Example Habit - "Stopping yelling and discuss things calmly" Now I'm no Dr. Phil, but I'm betting if you have a problem with this and you make a consious effort, you will be happier.

You will gain tremendous knowledge about yourself with little, yet consistent effort

Negative Nancy says: "Boy, that sure sounds a lot like Dr. Phil to me."

Tracking your habits is a great way to gain indepth knowledge about yourself. After consistently tracking your habits for a reasonable length of time, you will be able to gain insight into many different areas in your life and get an unbiased look at YOU as a person.

You will be able compare what you perceive to be important to you, and what actually is important to you (based on your habits)

Negative Nancy says: "Are you trying to tell me that what I perceive about myself is not always true?"

Exactly! We all have an idea of the things we think we value and think are important (think of these as Core Values). We may even regularly tell ourselves and others that these things are important to us. But do are daily habits support this?

Example - As a test, write down your Core Values (what's important to you) in order. Then use HabitMix with at least 2 or 3 habits for each Core Value, for a couple months and see which items have bubble to the top and which have drifted to the bottom. This is what your daily habits are really showing is important to you. Is it different from the list you made at first? Do you need some work?

HabitMix will help you go green

Negative Nancy says: "I see, now you are trying to appeal to my eco-friendly, tree hugging, save the planet side?"

No, actually this last one was a joke. Except now that I think about it - if going green is important to you, make it a Core Value and put in some habits like recycling, not buying certain products, riding your bike to work, etc!
